About the Conference

India is undergoing transformative shifts driven by Al and technological advancement, globalization, demographic transitions, and increasing climatic risks. Traditional rural livelihoods rooted in agriculture & allied sectors, small enterprises, and skill-based work are under strain, demanding a bold reorientation of policy and practice. Rural India faces a triple crisis across the 3Ps: Planet (depletion of Jal, Jungle, Jameen due to climate change and degradation), People (limited access to education, healthcare, skills, and digital tools, widening inequities), and Prosperity (fragmented value chains, poor market access, and low investment stifling growth).

In response, ILRT and PRDIS are organizing the ‘National Conference on Transforming Rural Livelihood Landscape in India: Empowering Rural Communities through Investing in People, Planet and Prosperity (3 Ps)’ to drive dialogue and actions on inclusive and resilient livelihood promotion aligned with the SDGs and India’s Vision 2047. The conference will also focus on emerging themes Al and technology, demographic shifts, climate change and circular economy to build scalable and future-ready livelihood models around 3Ps.

Conference Objectives :

  1. Share evidence-based practices to strengthen ecological foundations of rural livelihoods through climate-resilient agriculture, water management, forest regeneration, and land restoration, while harnessing Al and technology for precision farming and predictive resource management, aligning with SDGs 6, 7, 13, and 15.
  2. Promote inclusive, gender-responsive strategies to empower women, youth, smallholders, artisans, and forest dwellers by enhancing access to education, skills, health, and livelihoods tailored to demographic shifts such as youth bulges and ageing populations and leveraging digital and Al-enabled training platforms, contributing to SDGs 1, 2, 5, 8, and 10.

  4. Develop evidence-based policy and institutional recommendations to drive investment in the 3Ps, addressing the intersecting impacts of Al and technology, climate change, globalization and demographic shifts to ensure dignified, resilient, and inclusive rural livelihoods.
